The Hollywood Gossip App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Mediavine, Inc. (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use The Hollywood Gossip mobile app for iOS (the “App”). It applies only to the App. The privacy policy covering the website thehollywoodgossip.com is at thehollywoogossip.com/privacy-policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect the minimum information needed to operate the App.
1.1 Account information
The App lets you sign in with Sign in with Apple. When you do, we collect:
- Email address. Apple shares your email with us, or — if you choose Apple’s “Hide My Email” option — a relay address at
@privaterelay.appleid.comthat forwards mail to your Apple ID inbox. You can change your email at any time in the App’s Settings; doing so triggers a verification link sent to the new address. - A unique account identifier assigned by our authentication provider, used only to recognize your account across devices. It is not your Apple ID.
The Sign in with Apple flow may also offer your name. We do not store it.
1.2 Topics you follow
Every celebrity, category, or tag you choose to follow in the App is recorded so we can send you push notifications about matching articles, show those topics as pinned tabs, and sync the list across your devices.
1.3 Display preferences
Your selected theme (light, dark, or auto) and article text size (small, medium, or large) are saved so they persist across launches and sync across devices once you sign in.
1.4 Push notification token
If you grant notification permission, Apple’s push service issues a device-specific token. Our push provider stores it so we can deliver notifications. The token is tied to your device install, not to your Apple ID.
1.5 What we do not collect
The App does not collect your name (even when Sign in with Apple offers it), location, contacts, photos, microphone access, browsing history outside the App, advertising identifiers, or crash and analytics data from third-party SDKs. We do not call AppTrackingTransparency.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose unrelated to operating the App. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Third-party service providers
The following service providers help us operate the App. Each is bound by their own privacy policy and applicable data processing terms.

4. Push notifications
Push notifications are off by default. The App requests permission on first launch; you may decline, and you can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → THG, or from the App’s Settings screen.
When enabled, we send pushes for new articles tagged with celebrities, categories, or topics you follow, plus occasional breaking-news alerts. You can stop receiving notifications by unfollowing specific topics or by disabling notifications in iOS Settings.
5. Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the App. This removes your account, every topic you follow, all synced preferences, and the push tokens associated with the account. The deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
If you cannot access the App, contact us at the email in Section 11 to request deletion.
Uninstalling the App alone does not delete your account; the account record remains on our servers until you sign back in and delete it, or until you contact us to do so.
6. Data retention
We keep account data only while your account exists. When the account is deleted, the deletion cascades to all related records — followed topics, push tokens, synced preferences — within minutes. Some operational logs may persist for up to 30 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
7. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Security
Account data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain. Database access is controlled by row-level security policies that ensure each user can only read or modify their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we follow industry-standard practices for an app of this scale.
9. International users
The App is operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information (you can update your email directly in the App), delete your account and all associated data (you can do this in the App), receive a copy of your data in a portable format, or object to or restrict our processing of your data.

11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted in the App’s release notes when we ship a new version.
