The Hollywood Gossip — iOS App Privacy Policy

Effective August 3, 2026 · Applies to The Hollywood Gossip iOS app version 3.4.0 and later

This policy explains what the The Hollywood Gossip iOS app (“the App”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is collected, how it is used, and the choices you have. It supplements Mediavine, Inc.’s Legal & Privacy Center. For questions or requests, contact privacy@mediavine.com.

Information we collect and how

  • Advertising identifiers & device identifiers — collected automatically by the in-app advertising components when you view ad-supported content. Used to deliver and measure advertising and to support core app functionality.
  • Advertising interaction & audience data — which ads are shown and interacted with, and audience segments associated with your device, collected automatically and used to deliver and measure third-party advertising.
  • Approximate (coarse) location — derived from your IP address, not from your device’s GPS or location permission. Used to make ads more relevant to your region and to cap how often you see them. The App does not request precise-location access.
  • Usage & product-interaction data — articles viewed, taps, and navigation within the App, collected automatically, used to operate the App and understand which content is popular.
  • App install & engagement events — when the App is installed and opened, the Meta (Facebook) SDK automatically records these events and sends them, together with device identifiers (your advertising identifier only if you have granted App Tracking Transparency permission) and IP address, to Meta Platforms. Used solely to measure the performance of advertising campaigns we run on Facebook and Instagram to promote the App.
  • Diagnostics — crash reports, performance metrics, and related diagnostic data, collected automatically, used to fix bugs and improve stability.
  • Push notification token — collected when you enable notifications, used to send you alerts about new articles.
  • Account & contact information — your email address, a user identifier, and the celebrities and topics you follow are collected only if you create an account, and are used to operate those features. Creating an account is optional and not required to read content.

How your information is used

  • To display and measure advertising that funds free access to our content.
  • To measure the performance of our own advertising campaigns that promote the App.
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the App and its content.
  • To diagnose crashes and performance problems.
  • To deliver the push notifications you opt into.

Third parties we share information with

We share the data described above with service providers strictly to perform the functions above:

  • Mediavine, Inc. — operates the advertising components in the App (requests served via exchange.mediavine.com).
  • Optable — statically bundled within the Mediavine SDK; provides Seller-Defined Audience segments and identifier resolution used for advertising. Optable data is processed through Mediavine’s infrastructure (Optable hosts: optable.co, optable.app).
  • Google LLC — Google Ad Manager and AdMob deliver and measure ads (googleads.g.doubleclick.net, pagead2.googlesyndication.com).
  • Meta Platforms, Inc. — receives app events (install, app open), device identifiers, and IP address via the Facebook SDK to measure and attribute installs from advertising campaigns we run on Meta’s platforms (endpoints: graph.facebook.com, ep2.facebook.com).
  • consentmanager — the Mediavine SDK presents the privacy consent dialog through consentmanager (consentmanager.net), which records and stores your advertising consent choices.
  • Supabase — hosts your account, sign-in session, and the celebrities and topics you follow.
  • OneSignal — delivers push notifications.
  • Automattic / WordPress — hosts the article content the App displays.

We require these providers to handle your information under protections at least equivalent to those in this policy, and to use it only for the purposes above.

Third-party privacy policies

These partners process data under their own privacy policies:

Tracking and your choices

  • App Tracking Transparency. On first ad-supported launch we ask permission (via Apple’s ATT prompt) to use your advertising identifier for personalized ads. If you decline, you still see ads — they are simply less personalized. This choice also controls whether the Meta SDK may use your advertising identifier for campaign measurement. You can change it any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Consent management. Where required by law (e.g. GDPR/ePrivacy regions), a consent dialog (provided by consentmanager) lets you accept or reject data uses for advertising. You can revisit these choices in the App.
  • Notifications. Turn push notifications off any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → The Hollywood Gossip.
  • Account deletion. You can permanently delete your account and associated data from within the App (Profile → Delete Account).

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for no longer than necessary for the purposes described above, and in accordance with our legal obligations and legitimate business interests. Where we process data to enable interest-based advertising, we continue until you ask us to stop. Email, account, and content you provide are retained until you delete your account or ask us to delete them. To request access to, or deletion of, data associated with you, email privacy@mediavine.com and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.

Your regional rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. Exercise any of these by contacting privacy@mediavine.com. We do not sell your personal information for money.

Children and age

The App is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not knowingly serve them personalized advertising — advertising that uses your advertising identifier is shown only after you grant App Tracking Transparency permission. Where local law requires age assurance, the App relies on the age signals the App Store provides. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact privacy@mediavine.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy for new app versions. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
