Entertainment Weekly magazine announced their 2007 entertainer of the year and selected additional winners in five categories: prodigies; class clown; most popular; most buzzed about; and valedictorian.

The magazine put J.K. Rowling in a class all by herself for the mega empire she has created through the sale of 400 million copies of her Harry Potter book series.

EW names Zac Efron, Shia LaBeouf, Rhianna and Miley Cyrus as this years prodigies. Class clown honors were given to Tina Fey, co-star of “30 Rock” and Vanessa Williams from “Ugly Betty”.

Most popular were Matt Damon, Carrie Underwood, Johnny Depp, Katherine Heigl and Kanye West. Most buzzed about were Amy Winehouse, Gerard Butler and Tyler Perry.

Valedictorian honors go to George Clooney for his ability to maintain a balance between box-office visibility and activism. Will Smith and Angelina Jolie were also named in this category.
