His Ponzi Scheme
Bilked Villehuchet out of $1.4 Billion
Thierry de la Villehucket, 65, was found dead in his New York office early Tuesday morning. Police were called to his Madison Avenue office about 7:50 a.m. according to New York Police spokeswoman Doris Otero.
The businessman had told the cleaning crew on Monday night that he would be working late and wanted them out of his office by 7:00 p.m. Workers returned Tuesday morning and found the door locked. He was later discovered dead at his desk.
He co-founded Access International Advisors in 1994 along with Patrick Littaye. The company raised funds on European markets to invest with Bernard Madoff, the Wall Street mogul who bilked investors out of billions of dollars. Over 75 percent of the money that Villehuchet managed was in Madoff’s fund. He reportedly lost $1.4 billion in the ponzi scheme.
According to the Huffington Post, a friend of Villehuchet said “he could not cope with the pressure following the outbreak of the scandal.”
He lived in an affluent suburb in Westchester County with his wife. They have no children.
More photos below are believed to be that of business partners Littaye and Villehuchet.
