It is the second week of performances by the American Idol Top Seven, with a double elimination in store for two of the singing hopefuls. It was disco night on the popular FOX reality show, with the remaining contestants performing a mixed bag of song selections.
It was back to all four judges critiquing the competition and it was a good night once again for Adam Lambert, who sang If I Can’t Have You, afterwhich Randy remarked, “You are ready.” Allison Iraheta performed Hot Stuff, with Simon calling it a “brilliant performance.” Kris Allen sang She Works Hard For The Money, and Cowell deemed it a “fantastic performance.”
Judge Randy Jackson remarked that all of the remaining contestants were very talented, making it hard to see any of them go. Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul took on the role of cheerleaders, showering words of encouragement across the board.
Anoop Desai, who sang Dim All The Lights received a mixed review with Randy remarking, “Dude you can sing. Nice baby nice.” Simon called it “mediocre at best” and declared it Desai’s worst performance.
Danny Gokey sang September by Earth, Wind & Fire. Three of the four judges liked it and Cowell admitted the vocals were good but said that he didn’t get any star power from the performance.
Lil Round and Matt Giraud appeared to be in the greatest danger of being eliminated this week. The judges beat up on Rounds for her take on I’m Every Woman, with Simon telling her this would be the last time that “we will be seeing you.” Giraud’s version of Stayin’ Alive came off as a very bad Justin Timberlake imitation.
Ending up in the bottom three were Lil Round, Anoop Desai and Allison Iraheta. See who went home here.
