Bounty hunter Duane Chapman aka Dog the Bounty Hunter and local bail bondsman Bobby Brown were shot at in Colorado Springs while on the hunt for a fugitive, according to ABC affiliate Denver Channel 7 news reports.

The men were attempting to capture 35 year old Hoang Nguyen, who was wanted for second degree attempted murder. The chase started at the suspects apartment building last night around 7:00 p.m. and that is where things got a little crazy. Dog and Bobby claim that Hoang shot at them with a handgun and then took off on a motorcycle.

Witnesses called police and reported that Dog and Bobby were armed with machine guns but the investigating officers discovered that the pair were armed with paintball guns. Chapman’s website got more specific and said that Dog was carrying a pepper-ball gun.

Onlookers called the incident “pretty wild” and surreal. Not giving up on the chase, Dog was able to catch up to the perp and deliver him to El Paso County Jail for booking at 1:00 a.m. this morning. Nguyen is being held on a total of 13 charges. Besides the attempted murder charge, he is also wanted for domestic violence and a hand gun violation.

A film crew was recording the chase and arrest for the A&E reality show Dog the Bounty Hunter. We are told, however, that the gun fire incident was not captured on camera. Another interesting tidbit is that the police were unable to find any spent shells casings.

Is anyone else thinking publicity stunt? If it is the real deal, the film crew should be sent packing.
