Former NBA star Jayson Williams was tasered by police after the troubled New Jersey Nets center went nuts and trashed his hotel room in New York City.
Williams, who gained notoriety after shooting his chauffeur in 2002, was holed up at the Embassy Suites in Battery Park when police responded to a call reporting a disturbance in his 15th-floor suite.
“He was barricaded, drinking, taking pills. He was overwhelmed,” said a police source. “It all came crashing down.”
The former All-Star was rushed to St. Vincent’s Hospital in handcuffs after police found several suicide notes, including a message written on the wall, and empty bottles of pills in his room.
According to sources, Emergency Service Unit officers were forced to subdue Williams with a Taser gun and it took two sets of handcuffs to restrain him.
