Country music singer/songwriter Vern Gosdin has died in Nashville at age 74.

Gosdin, the rich baritone known as “The Voice,” suffered a stroke several weeks ago and was under hospice care. He passed away late Tuesday at a Nashville hospital.

Gosdin’s song “Chiseled in Stone” was voted CMA Song of the Year in 1989. Other hits include “Set ’em Up Joe,” “I Can Tell by the Way You Dance,” “I’m Still Crazy,” “That Just About Does It,” “Who You Gonna Blame It on This Time,” “Way Down Deep,” “Dream of Me” and “Yesterday’s Gone.”
