Two-time Emmy and Grammy Award-winning actress Cynthia Nixon, best known for her role as Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City, is engaged to her girlfriend Christine Mariononi. Nixon made the announcement during the Action=Marriage Equality rally in midtown Manhattan on Sunday.
The actress was in good company at the event, with Kristin Davis, David Hyde Pierce and New York Governor David Paterson, but there was no sign of her girlfriend. Huffington Post has a couple of photos of Nixon flashing her ring for the crowd to see. The actress appears to be delighted at the prospect of tying the knot with her long time partner.
Mariononi, an Education activist, has been in a relationship with Nixon since late 2003. Nixon is a breast cancer survivor and serves as an Ambassador for Susan G. Koman for the Cure.
The couple are raising Cynthia’s children together: daughter Samantha, 13, and a son Charles, 7. Both were conceived during Nixon’s 1988-2003 relationship with English professor Danny Mozes.
