Adam Yauch, also known as MCA and Nathaniel Hörnblowér, announced via a YouTube video on Monday that he has cancer. (See video below)

Yauch, a founding member of the hip hop group the Beastie Boys, has a “very treatable” cancerous tumor localized to one area of his salivary gland, and will be undergoing surgery and radiation treatment.

The 43-year-old says the tumor was found early and shouldn’t affect his vocal chords.

The Beastie Boys, currently on tour, will be canceling shows and pushing back their record release.

Yauch, under the pseudonym Nathanial Hörnblowér, has directed many of the Beastie Boys music videos. He also directed the 2008 high school basketball film “Gunnin’ For That #1 Spot.”
