Germany’s Jens Voigt crashed during the 16th stage of the Tour de France Tuesday, losing consciousness and sustaining injuries. He was flown to a Grenoble hospital, where he will undergo a full body scan.

Voigt, 37, crashed during the second descent of the Col du Petit St. Bernard and hit the pavement face-first, sliding about 20 feet. He regained consciousness a few minutes following the accident, but remained in shock. According to doctors, the most serious injuries were to his face and right elbow.
