Hulk Hogan is finding out that what he thought was a harmless prank isn’t so harmless after all. Fearful that he has alienated Hells Angels across the land, he has issued an apology for involving them in a joke gone bad.
It all started because Dr. Phil Unger‘s daughter was dating a young man named Chase Holfelder. The good doctor wanted to put a little scare into the kid and asked his close friend “The Hulk” to shake things up a bit with a little phone call.
Well…Hogan took this request a little too far and left a message on the young man’s voice-mail, threatening him with a suggestion that the wrath of the Hells Angels would come down on him if he didn’t give up the girl – audio available here.
Now Hogan has issued an apology for his poor judgment: “The idea that I somehow was making any kind of threat against this individual is unfortunate. The voice-mail was a practical joke made in a friendly situation and nothing more. I have respect for the Hells Angels and apologize for any undue publicity they have received as a result of (the boyfriend) seeking his 15 minutes of fame.”
Hulk went on to say that he has since squared things away with a Hells Angels friend and assured him that no harm was meant. Presumably his friend will take the apology to the rest of the brothers. Hogan is reportedly a former member.
With regard to the kid who got the phone call….it doesn’t sound like Hulk is as repentant where he is concerned, even suggesting that the whole thing became public only because Holfelder wanted his 15-minutes of fame. If you got a threatening voice-mail from the Hulk…would you make it public? We think we would.
