American Idol semifinalist Chris Golightly has been disqualified from the top 24 because of a “lack of veracity” during auditions.

According to a source, Golightly failed to mention that he had a music contract during the audition process. “American Idol” bars singers with current deals from competing.

The 25-year-old Los Angeles shoe salesman says his recording contract ended the month before Idol auditions, and claims he was only asked during the audition process if he was under contract, to which he replied he was not.

Chris, who grew up in orphanages and foster homes, made a huge impact during his audtion, singing “Stand By Me.”

Golightly has been replaced by Tim Urban, a 20-year-old college student from Duncanville, TX.

Fox issued a statement, saying, “It has been determined that Chris Golightly is ineligible to continue in the competition. ‘American Idol’ contestant Tim Urban has replaced Golightly as part of the Top 24.”
