Miss Michigan 2010 Rima Fakih was crowned Miss USA 2010 and is set to celebrate with pizza. The 24-year-old brunette beat out four blondes in the finals to win the title on Sunday at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. She was crowned by Miss USA 2009 Kristen Dalton.
Rima was born to Lebanese parents who migrated to New York when she was an infant. The large family moved to Dearborn, Michigan in 2003 – see their group photo in our gallery below. She is the first Miss Michigan to win Miss USA since 1993.
During the judges question segment, Fakih was asked whether she thought birth control should be paid for by health insurance. She said she believed it should because it was costly. She continued, “I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it’s a controlled substance.” What did she just say???
After she was crowned, show host Curtis Stone asked her how she felt about her new title. Rima replied, “Ask me after I eat a pizza.”
A favorite segment of the week long competition is the annual bikini parade.
First runner-up was Miss Oklahoma USA, Morgan Elizabeth Woolard. Second runner-up was Miss Virginia USA Samantha Evelyn Casey. Third runner-up was Miss Colorado USA Jessica Hartman. Fourth runner-up was Miss Maine USA Katherine Ashley Whittier.
The contestants raised eyebrows early in the week when their racy promo photos were revealed.
