Season 9 American Idol Top 2 – Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze
It was elimination night on the hit FOX reality show American Idol on Wednesday and we also got to watch the video of each of the remaining contestants during their hometown love fest.
Casey James strummed his guitar in Cool, Texas, while Crystal Bowersox showed off her young son in Toledo, Ohio. And the man of the hour, Lee DeWyze, entertained friends, family and fans in Arlington Park, Illinois.
After a performance by teeny-bopper Justin Bieber, it was time to reveal the final two contestants who will vie for the top prize next week during the American Idol Finale at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live venue.
With 47 million votes cast, the entirely predictable verdict sent Casey James packing. We now have a two-person race. The head-to-head competition next week will feature Crystal Bowersox vs Lee DeWyze.
For those who have been only paying casual attention this season, the front-runner until this week has been the solid and steady Bowersox. But then a dark horse emerged, almost from nowhere. Quiet, shy, and unassuming DeWyze pulled off an eleventh hour coup by nailed both of his performances this week. His absolutely brilliant rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ has catapulted him to the forefront.
Expect first rate performances from both contestants next week. We know that Simon has changed horses late in the race and has now put his money on the kid from Arlington Heights. We have to say…it seems like a very good bet indeed.
