Jennifer Mee — from media darling to murder suspect…

Police in St. Petersburg, Florida have arrested 19-year-old Jennifer Mee on a charge of first degree murder for her part in luring Shannon A. Griffin to a home where her friends robbed and murdered him at 11:30 p.m. Saturday night.

The victim was shot four times in the upper body and died at the scene. The premeditated crime began late Saturday night when Jennifer lured the 22-year-old victim to a home where her accomplices were waiting to rob him at gunpoint. A struggle ensued and Griffin was killed with a .38-caliber revolver.

Sgt. T.A. Skinner of the SPPD confirmed that Mee was arrested along with Laron Raiford, 20, and Lamont Newton, 22 — mugshots in gallery after the jump. All three have been charged with first-degree murder and, if found guilty, they could face the death penalty under Florida law.

The trio are being held without bond at the Pinellas County Jail and will make their first court appearance at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 25.

Mee attracted national media attention in 2007 when she developed a case of hiccups that lasted five weeks. She hiccuped around the clock at a rate of 50 times a minute and appeared three times on the Today Show.

The girl ran away from home shortly after the 2007 media attention subsided and again in January 2010, following a fight with her boyfriend. In both instances police were able to locate her and reunite her with her mother.
