Although her father-in-law took it upon himself in May to unofficially announce that the First Lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, was pregnant, she has finally decided to make it official.
Carla has been sporting maternity wear for some time now, but the real evidence was a bikini beach romp a few days ago that did nothing to hide her obvious baby bump. She is reportedly 5-1/2 months along.
In a recent interview with French newspaper Nice-Matin, she spoke about being pregnant, “Coming happiness, unexpected and unhoped for.”
When asked if she was expecting a boy or a girl, she replied: “I don’t even know myself, there are certain things that one should keep secret.”
She is very happy in her role as First Lady of France, indicating that the past three years have been “less tiring than 10 years of modeling.”
Carla married French President Nicholas Sarkozy in 2008. She has a son Aurelian, 10, from a previous relationship. Her husband has three children from two previous marriages, and one grandchild.
