Chris Brown performed on Rockefeller Plaza this morning as part of the Today Show summer concert series, with fans literally mobbing the area.
Die hard supporters spent the night camped out for the chance to check out the singer’s performance. NYPD closed off 48th and 49th streets to vehicular traffic for the first time ever, according to co-anchor and resident weather guy Al Roker.
Breezy shared his excitement via Twitter: “18 to 20 thousand people showed up at 7 this morning! That’s crazy!! Biggest crowd the Today Show ever had.”
This event definitely gives the singer bragging rights, considering Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, and Keith Urban have all performed at the same location to lesser crowds .
Earlier this week the singer was accused of going on a homophobic rant, something he has since denied. Looks like he didn’t let the controversy get to him.
