Short ‘do was a self-inflicted chop job for a movie role …

Vanessa Hudgens was rocking a new short hairdo last night at the premiere of Captain America: the First Avenger.

The 22-year-old actress is still getting used to her short brunette locks: “Oh man, it’s really intense. Honestly, I kind of feel like a soccer mom, but we’re going to let that go. There’s nothing wrong with soccer moms, but I’m only 22! I miss my hair, believe me, I do. But there’s nothing I can do about it.”

The story of how the new ‘do came about strikes us as slightly bizarre.

The former High School Musical star and Ron Krauss, director of her latest movie Gimme Shelter, did the impromptu chop job: “I grabbed the scissors and started cutting my actual hair. Then my director decided that he was going to grab the scissors, and he grabs a chunk of my hair and just chops it.”

Hudgens is cast as a homeless teen and agreed to sacrifice her long hair for the sake of the film role. Her co-stars include Brendan Fraser and Rosario Dawson.

The new look begs the question … do we love it? As always, your comments are welcome.
