Rick Calamaro was found dead in his L.A. apartment Sunday. The 46-year-old former club promoter was a longtime personal assistant and close friend of Charlie Sheen.

According to website TMZ, Charlie’s pal and enabler was discovered a number of days after he died. Police noted during their investigation that “numerous drugs and an open bottle of alcohol” were found at the scene.

It is widely believed that Calamaro supplied drugs to Sheen, and he was reportedly with the former ‘Two and a Half Men’ actor at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan during his 36-hour drug binge in October 2010. He remained Sheen’s right hand man during his frenzied tiger blood period.

The pair parted ways in November 2011 when the actor was encouraged by others to clean up his act in order to resurrect his tanked career. The move earned him a shot at a new television gig, ‘Anger Management‘ that premiered last week on FX.

Friends of the former L.A. club owner hit Twitter to pay homage to the businessman who gave “the coolest parties in Hollywood” and was a “legendary Hollywood club promoter who made an impact.”
