The U.S. State Department tweeted a photo and shout out over the weekend to actor Ben Affleck, the director of Academy Award-nominated ‘Argo.’

The first message, initialed by Secretary of State John Kerry said, “Good luck @BenAffleck and #Argo at the Oscars. Nice seeing @StateDept & our Foreign Service on the big screen.-JK”

The second tweet including a link to a photo, “Did you know @BenAffleck filmed scenes from #Oscar-nominated #Argo in the @StateDept? See the crew in our lobby.”

Affleck responded, “Thanks @StateDept for hosting us during #Argo filming. Grateful for the outstanding service & sacrifice of US diplomats and their families!

In what many consider a major Oscars snub, Ben Affleck did not get nominated for Best Director … despite the fact that the film seems a shoe-in for Best Picture at tonight’s 85th Academy Awards in Hollywood.
