It was a busy weekend for Reese Witherspoon, who walked the red carpet at the Museum of Modern Art Sunday night during the NYC premiere of her new movie ‘Mud,’ just two days after being arrested for disorderly conduct in Atlanta.
The Academy award-winning actress managed a smile but looked decidedly stressed while rocking a short black Yves Saint Laurent dress with matching heels during her stint on the red carpet.
She posed briefly with her ‘Mud’ co-star Matthew McConaughey before making a hasty escape. The film is scheduled for a limited release in select theaters beginning April 26, 2013.
Director Jeff Nichols appeared to be blindsided when reporters asked them about the weekend arrest of the film’s co-star. He responded, “I can’t say anything about that because I don’t know. Like literally … the first guy in the press line to say something … the first time I heard about it. I gotta go figure it out.”
A hearing is set today in Atlanta to hear Witherspoon’s case. Her lawyer will attend but it is unclear whether she will be required to appear before the judge.
The actress is currently on location in Atlanta filming ‘The Good Lie,’ slated for release in December 2013.
Witherspoon’s husband Jim Toth was pulled over and arrested for DUI on April 19. His celebrity wife’s belligerent behavior during the traffic stop early Friday morning led to her arrest as well. See the mug shots here.
