Actor and WWE superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had emergency hernia surgery on Monday to repair torn abdominal and abductor muscles.
The injuries occurred while he was defending his WWE Championship title on April 7 against John Cena. Adding insult to injury, Johnson lost the match that took place in front of 80,000 fans at the New Jersey MetLife Stadium.
The actor announced on Twitter, “Saw my Dr who had to push my intestines back thru the tear in my abdomen. Kinda romantic.”
His rep. confirmed to E! News that Johnson underwent a successful hernia operation Monday.
Johnson missed the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie ‘Pain and Gain’ but got a red carpet shout out from director Michael Bay, “Dwayne’s hurt tonight. He was pushing it too hard. He needs to grow up and stop wrestling 300-pound men.”
“The Rock” has since tweeted, “Surgery a success! Dr repaired 3 hernial tears (fun pain). Superman is on the mend.. #WeFallWeRise.”
His new action comedy, co-starring Mark Wahlberg, hits theaters on April 26th. Check out the trailer clip below:
