Country entertainer Kimberly Perry is engaged to J.P. Arencibia, the lead catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Band Perry singer, 30, said ‘Yes!’ on Monday when her 27-year-old MLB boyfriend popped the question at her family home in Greenville, Tennessee.
He proposed to her underneath a stately tree that she had always hoped would be where she got engaged. Her ring is a 3.3-carat emerald-cut sparkler that was designed by her friend.
They met in February 2012 at the Florida Strawberry Field Festival. She immediately felt a spiritually and emotionally connection to Arencibia and admits, “I’ve never felt that with anyone before. He’s just a really gentle soul. He balances me for sure.”
J.P. revealed that he first saw Kimberly in her ‘If I Die Young’ music video and “had this moment where I felt like she was going to be a part of my future.” He is probably not the only guy to get that feeling after watching Perry perform, but as it turned out – he did find a way to make it happen.
Arencibia, a Cuban-American, lives in Nashville during the baseball off-season. He attended the same high school in Miami as MLB players Alex Rodriguez and Doug Mientkiewicz.
