Meg Ryan will star as a former hotshot New York editor in a new NBC comedy that she has been tasked with developing for the network.
The ‘When Harry Met Sally’ actress will be cast as a single mom who returns to her New York publishing house where she now works for her former intern, a neurotic 30-year-old named Brenda.
She struggles to keep her boss, her teenage kids, her almost ex-husband and her meddlesome mother-in-law happy–leading to some amusing situations caused by her tendency to overcomplicate matters.
The three-time Golden Globe nominee has been in a relationship for nearly three years with rock singer-songwriter John Mellencamp. Her two children are Jack Quaid, 21, and adopted daughter Daisy, 8, who arrived from China at age 14-months in 2006.
Meg divorced actor Dennis Quaid in 2001, a decade after they appearing together in ‘D.O.A.’ and ‘Innerspace.’ She later revealed that she agreed to marry him after he vowed to kick his cocaine habit. She also acknowledged after their split that he had been unfaithful to her for a long time before she filed to end the union.
Ryan has appeared in five episodes of Lisa Kudrow’s Showtime improvisational comedy series ‘Web Therapy’ in recent years, including three appearances in 2013.
Among her best known films are ‘Sleepless in Seattle,’ ‘When a Man Loves a Woman,’ ‘City of Angels’ and ‘You’ve Got Mail.’
