Milk does a body, and society, good
In an effort to reduce obesity rates among New York City’s low-income areas, city health officials are asking bodegas to stock up with low-fat milk.
As an alternative to a diet of whole milk, potato chips, and Marlboro Reds, health offs are hoping that the non-fat milk craze will spark an increase in bodegas carrying fruits, vegetables, and Camel Ultra Lights.
Even little Tiffany Rodriguez, 11, who only had whole milk before some kind soul offered the child “her first sip of the low-fat alternative,” thinks that the skimmed down version “tastes better than the regular milk.”
And if the Dove chocolate bars survive this war on fat, we could have Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans come to speak to the people of the South Bronx, central Brooklyn, and Harlem.
He could encourage an ever greater milk craze by explaining that when you mix dark chocolate and white milk together, you can get a delicious drink.
