Larry David’s Enthusiasm Intact; Wife Kicked To The Curb

Larry David has made a career out of making his personal humiliations public (Pants Tent, anyone?). So it’s no wonder that he plans to turn his divorce with Laurie into awkward comedy gold.

Asked at Thursday’s Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills what he’d joke about if he ever returned to standup, he said, “It would probably be about the divorce. If I was going onstage, of course I would talk about it. How could I not?”

David, 59, and wife Laurie, 49, announced in June that they were separating after 14 years of marriage. Laurie is a well-known eco-activist, and when asked about his own environmental efforts, David quipped: “Well, after the divorce I went home and turned all the lights on!”

When asked what she did as soon as the divorce papers were filed, an equally hilarious Laurie David quipped, “I threw out all the Manischewitz wine, got hammered on Maker’s Mark and had a one night with a well-endowed gentile.”

Are you sure that that’s a picture of Larry David? I would swear it’s a photo of a good friend of mine, Fred Waitzkin.

Get divorced for new comedy material? Didn’t Kathy Griffin do this one already?

Best thing that could have happened! Larry gets lucky again! The rapidly ageing, middle-aged, self-righteous, bitchy wife leaves the funniest man on earth….who now gets the last laugh as he romps with all the women he wished he married…women who are half her age..or half her size…women that are hot enough for him to actually want to do it with the lights on! And to think, Laurie thought it was his way of supporting her enviromental causes! Go Larry…take one for the home team!…and leave the lights on!
