Hillary Clinton Disseminates Her Own Good News

Hillary Clinton certain doesn’t have Arianna Huffington’s ambition to start a slanted-news site baring her name, but HillaryHub.com is coming close. The “Drudge Report for Hillary fans” debuted yesterday with an email campaign aimed at reporters. The inbox of The Politico’s Ben Smith, it seems, was on the receiving end.

Reports Smith:

HillaryHub isn’t a typical campaign site. With a simple, three-column look, occasionally edgy headlines and links to a blend of videos, reports from newspapers and blogs and campaign memos, it’s a news aggregator on the model of the Drudge Report. The difference, of course, is that the stories are chosen to depict Clinton favorably and to tweak her critics.

When The Politico posted an internal Obama campaign memo aimed at raising the expectations for Clinton’s fundraising, HillaryHub linked to it under the headline: “Obama Camp Touts Hillary’s Poll Numbers and Endorsements.”

Supposedly, this is the dawn in a new era of politics and information, where the power players are also controlling their message. We’re supposed to look at sports leagues for parallels; MLB.com, for instance, will give you A-Rods stats, but not his marital troubles.

But really: Are we, as a country, about to abandon, ahem, unbiased sources like the Times and the Post? Thought not … so stop clamoring for the “death of news media as we know it” parade. It goes horribly with that pantsuit.

Mr. T says:

Please, this is so stupid. Why doesn’t Hillary just manager her myspace account herself. Oh, I forgot, she’s innocent (of something I am sure, just not quite sure what that is).
