As we write this, we???re looking out the window and salivating over the picture perfect weather outside, currently being wasted on lazy, unemployed persons and pretentious NYU students. And so, for your sanity and ours, we???ve decided to kick off a glorious new feature called ???Comment of the Day,??? to provide a transient glimmer of entertainment for all you working stiffs who would much rather be downing margaritas poolside on the Jersey Shore (while fending off advances from married, guidos named Tony) than slaving away in your cubicles.

Today???s ???Comment of the Day??? comes to us from the New York Observer website, and it pertains to Jared Kushner’s bizarre decision to reprint Candace Bushnell’s “Sex and the City” columns (that originally ran back in April of 1995).

But will they stand the test of time? Do people still care about Samantha Jones, Carrie and Mr. Big? And why hasn’t Bushnell written anything new in the past ten years?*

Today’s COTD proved to be an incredibly quick find. In fact, only two readers deigned to comment on this 12 year-old piece of social anthropology, and one of them apparently missed the boat somewhat.

Says, AnnaZed:

I don’t understand. I was thrilled thinking that Candace Bushnell was maybe going to continue her great story with the girls, but this is just re-cycling the same old stuff; in fact I think it IS the old stuff…WTF, that was new about a decade ago! I hope that you didn’t pay for it or anything.

And while we sincerely hope Kushner appreciates AnnaZed’s selfless regard for his finances, it’s MCP who wins our hearts today.

Oh, Candace… You know, little lady, you really should abandon this facade. Stop fighting your God-given nature. Go see your doctor and get prescriptions for Valtrex and imiquimod cream; settle down and marry a nice man; learn some domestic skills and start having babies. Do you know they have a talking horse playing you on television? Ditch the keyboard for the stove and contribute something to society.

Congratulations, MCP. And we wish Candace Bushnell the best of luck with her upcoming pie-making, child rearing and equestrian pursuits.
