Four people have reportedly been shot at Lil Wayne’s mansion in Miami Beach.
Police have arrived on the scene, but are suspicious of the call that they received, as the person who reported the incident stated that they hoped to start a shoot-out with police.
Sources say Wayne is currently in Miami, but was not at home at the time of the alleged shooting.
(UPDATE: It was just a hoax.)
The rapper has been involved in some bizarre feuds, hoaxes, and legal scrapes in recent months, but there is no evidence that any of them are related to today’s incident.
Just last month police responded to a trespassing call after a man was found lurking outside of Wayne’s home. The man was arrested but quickly released.
Prior to that, Wayne feuded with his former mentor Birdman and a private business dispute between the two quickly became an ugly – and very public – ordeal.
Last year, Wayne was the victim of a death hoax after he was hospitalized for seizures that may have been related to his drug use.
Needless to say, it’s been quite the tumultuous year for the wildly popular hip hop artist.
Fortunately, he does not appear to have been involved in today’s incident. In fact, it’s possible that no one as inside Wayne’s home at the time police were called.
A police spokesman has told the Miami press that the stand-off could be the result of “swatting,” or the practice of placing a prank 911 call in order to provoke the maximum response from police.
Cops are currently maintaining a perimeter outside of Wayne’s mansion just to be safe. They are still uncertain if anyone has been injured inside the home.
