To open Arrow Season 3 Episode 11, Laurel (as The Black Canary) went to save a damsel in distress. No problem, right?

Except that, despite getting a few blows in, she ended up on the losing end of the fight, forced to have her rear end a saved by Roy/Arsenal, who told her they "need to talk."

Yeah. Ya think?!?

The problem, though, is that Danny “Brick” Brickwell is on a violent tear through Starling City. He’s taking Aldermen hostage in the name of leveraging the mayor into pulling the police department from the Glades, so that the crime boss may rule there without issue.

As Assistant District Attorney, Laurel gathered information on Brick’s whereabouts, using this to finagle her way on to Team Arrow… despite Diggle’s very reasonable concerns.

From there, when she and Roy went to rescue the Aldermen, Brick gained the upper hand and simply tossed Canary aside.

Roy then put a pointer in Brick, yet that only served to incited the villain into killing one of his hostages. Talk about some major guilt for Roy and Laurel.

With Canary apparently back in action, Quentin believed his missing daughter had actually returned. Unable to reveal the truth, Laurel played along, even calling him as Sara at one point.

Then, encouraged by Felicity (who came back to Team Arrow after heeding a lesson from Ray about fighting for the people we care about) Laurel put the suit back on and a new offensive was launched against Brickwell.

This time, as you’ll see when you watch Arrow online, Roy and Laurel mostly came out on top.

Even when Brick cornered Canary, she made an impressive getaway by leaping through a window and grabbing onto a ladder dangling from Ray’s borrowed helicopter.

Later, Quentin again spoke to “Sara” (obscured atop a fire escape, in shadows), wondering why she’s avoiding him. She vowed to explain everything at some point.

Elsewhere in Starling City…

  • Malcolm yelled at Thea for not packing to leave town, thought she challenged his reasoning.
  • Eventually, Malcolm told her about Ra’s and why the League put a target on his back. Thea replied by challenging him to right.
  • Later, we learn that Thea’s DJ crush is actually a League mole. He reports to Sarab that Merlyn has no plans to go anywhere any time soon.
  • As for Oliver? He’s recuperating via herbs and penicillin and he’s telling Maseo NOT to return to the league or else he’ll pay the ultimate price for betraying Ra’s al Ghul’s wishes.
  • A bunch of League members – curious about the tracks leading from Oliver’s death site to this cabin – proceed to arrive and a fight breaks out, with Maseo and Tatsu dispatching the baddies.
  • Afterward, Oliver invites Maseo to come back with him to Starling City, but Maseo seems set on returning to the League.
