In March, a couple of months after Duff split from husband Mike Comrie, Carter Tweeted some advice to followers:
“Don’t be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me… I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don’t care what ANY of you think.”
Carter, of course, was referring to Duff, the artist’s very first girlfriend.
The former boy bander didn’t stop there, either, later saying he’ll never give up on Duff.
So… how does Duff feel about this obsession? That’s what Andy Cohen wanted to know on last night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.
“I’m going to hurt you right now,” joked Duff in response, stammering before answering: “Ugh! I don’t know. I don’t know what to say about it! It was so many years ago. I literally haven’t seen him in… it’s uncomfortable.”
Fortunately, it seems as if Carter has taken the hint.
“She’s got a kid, she’s married and I’m not trying to be that dude,” he recently said. “That’s not my intention. Hilary will always hold a very special place in my heart. I just need to shut up now about it. I think it’s time.”
Giada De Laurentiis, meanwhile, was also a guest on Bravo Wednesday night and remarked how she’s “out of the loop” with the news, asking Duff if she and Carter had dated.
“Ohhhh, yes, yes,” Duff replied. “When I was 13… He was very sweet. When I was 13.”
