Brooke Mueller has been hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation after a scary incident in which she allegedly struck her children.
The ex-wife of Charlie Sheen and the mother of his twin boys, Bob and Max, was reportedly under the influence of a foreign substance when this incident took place.
According to law enforcement insiders, per TMZ, a woman claiming to be Brooke's mother asked troopers from the Utah Highway Patrol to find her daughter on Wednesday.
The woman said it was necessary in order to determine whether her child was mentally unstable.
Police in Salt Lake City had earlier in the day received a 911 call from a witness who said she saw someone in a car wash parking lot around 6 a.m.
This woman, later identified as Mueller, was supposedly spotted beating her kids.
By the time local authorities arrived on the scene, Mueller, her nanny and the two children were gone, with TMZ claiming the actress showed up at a bar with the twins, looking "disheveled" and barefoot.
Reached for comment after learning broad details of what was going on, Sheen simply told the celebrity gossip outlet:
"I'm just trying to get my kids home safe. I have no other details that relate to the ongoing event."
Troopers eventually tracked Mueller down and took her to a hospital. The kids were released in to the car of an undisclosed family members.
It's a confusing situation, although the bottom line is that the children are safe and Mueller is once again receiving help for substance abuse, at the very least.
The Utah Department of Public Safety released the following statement in regard to yesterday's events:
On the morning of November 16, dispatchers with the Utah Department of Public Safety received a welfare check call from a woman claiming to be the mother of Brooke Mueller.
Troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol responded to the welfare check call and located Mueller, her two children and a nanny on Interstate 15 near Nephi, Utah.
The children are safe and will be released to family. Mueller was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. The State Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the incident.
We do not have any more information to release at this time.
Mueller and Sheen were husband and wife from 2008 to 2011.
Since then, Mueller has battled with drug abuse and had numerous run-ins with the law.
How bad did it get?
One lawsuit alleges that Mueller used her assistant as a drug mule and had sex in front of her children.
The assistant herself filed this lawsuit back in the summer of 2014.
Three years ago, meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services removed the twins from Mueller's home; they were placed in Denise Richard's custody at the time.
The twins are seven years old.
Once again, we sincerely hope their mother finds a way to clean up her act.
