When you ask someone how they met their loved one, there’s usually a very awkward story surrounding the circumstances that led to the pairing.
People always seem interested in the origin stories behind relationships, so if you tell them so many times, they get a little less awkward.
For one couple in England, there’s really no sugar coating the way their relationship started. They really found love in a hopeless place.
A man named Mark Ellis found Donna Roberts’ number on the wall of a restroom when he stopped in on his way to the local pub.
Yes, you read that correctly.
He struck up a conversation by sending Donna a text.
Donna was obviously puzzled about getting the text from a random number and was horrified that her ex-boyfriend had plastered her number across a public toilet wall.
Mark and Donna exchanged texts over the next few days and met up.
They fell for each other and now have two children together.
The couple are happy and very much in love with one another.
Donna is now glad that her ex put her number in the toilet.
“I should thank my ex — he did me a favor.”
On texting the number, Mark maintained that he wanted to know if the person on the other end of the cell phone was real.
“I was curious to know if it was a real human being. We still laugh about it.”
Donna was stunned when Mark finally opened up about how he got her number.
“It was days before he told me how he got my number."
“I was stunned. I had to get a new phone so no one else could ring.”
Next time you’re embarrassed by how you met your lover, just think of Donna and Mark.
