Is there still hope?
Yesterday, Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney confirmed their break-up after five years together.
"They are taking a break," Gaga's rep told People Magazine.
Last night, Gaga wrote a message to her fans explaining the split:
Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared.
Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other.
Yesterday, Gaga was spotted in Malibu without her Lorraine Schwartz heart-shaped engagement ring. Kinney proposed to the singer in February 2015 at her New York restaurant, Joanne Trattoria.
Work seems to be the driving factor in their split, but sources echo Gaga's post in that both parties want to make it work somehow.
"She's working on an album, he's working on his show [Chicago Fire], they aren't in the same state, it was just hard," a source told the publication.
"They both love each other very much and they want it to work. It's just been tough with the long distance."
Radar Online, on the other hand, reports that Gaga was driving Kinney crazy.
"Taylor could not handle her anymore! They did not want the same things in life!" a source alleged.
When Gaga won her first Golden Globe in 2015 for American Horror Story: Hotel.
"That is when everything started to fall apart," the source continued.
"Gaga told her friends that she thought that Taylor was jealous of her fame.
"It just got nasty between them. There was so much competition and all they did was fight.
Gaga and Kinney first met when he starred in the music video for "You & I" in 2011.
