Busta Rhymes was arrested and charged with assault on Wednesday night.
After the rapper hurled a protein shake at a gym employee in New York City.
According to a spokesperson for the New York Police Department, the 43-year old artist (real name: Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr.) was booked around 8:30 p.m. due to an incident that took place at Steel Gym.
It’s unclear what started the altercation.
But Rhymes allegedly got into a fight with the unnamed employee – and it escalated when Busta threw a carton of strawberry-flavored Muscle Milk at the man, striking him on the head.
Early Thursday morning, Rhymes seemingly addressed the arrest on Instagram, writing:
"Thanks to everyone who helped expedite this evening for me. "I’m good and we’re back to the grind. Heading 2 the studio 2 turn the bulls— into GREATNESS.
"I’m super good."
Scott Leemon, an attorney for the star, confirms that his client was arrested for second-degree assault. But we’ll let Leemon express how he feels about that:
"This is clearly an attempt by someone to take advantage of Busta. He did nothing wrong. This is a bunch of bull."
