As you've probably heard, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are getting divorced, and the media is having a field day with rumors and speculation.
The ridiculous theories are sure to keep coming, and we'll probably never know exactly why Affleck and Garner called it quits, but today, a more reputable source (People magazine) is claiming to have the low-down on how the A-list couple is dealing with the trauma of divorce.
“Jen has been leaning on friends," says one insider. "She has a close circle of pals who she trusts and are really protective of her. Her girlfriends have been really supportive. They just want her to be happy.”
The same source says Ben has turned to his beloved mother for support:
“While Jen is turning to her family and friends, the person in Ben’s life is his mother. She is a constant rock for him. She had remained close to the family as well.
"She’s been there for him through this extremely difficult time. He is really leaning on his mother for support. Ben and his mom have always been very close.”
The tone of the People piece suggests that the "source" is actually Ben and Jen's PR team, and this is their first attempt at managing the media fallout from their split.
It's a solid effort, but if they think they'll be able to put stop to the wild guesswork regarding the cause of the divorce, we're afraid they've got another thing coming.
