Last week, Blanket Jackson's yearbook photo revealed that the 13-year-old son of pop legend Michael Jackson is going by a different name these days.
Blanket is listed as "Bigi Jackson" next to his picture, and sources say the soon-to-be high school freshman refuses to respond to his old moniker.
“He always thought that the name Blanket sounded so stupid and resented his father for calling him that,” one insider tells Radar Online.
"He changed his name informally from Blanket to Bigi before entering [the Buckley Academy] because he hated getting bullied and made fun of because his name was Blanket."
Legally, Bigi is still known as Michael Jackson, Jr., but his family has referred to him by the nickname assigned by his father from the time he was an infant.
The youngest of Jackson's three children, Bigi was homeschooled until last year, and he reportedly had difficulty adjusting to life at the prestigious Buckley Academy.
"School mates have been slightly mean to him because of their jealousy over who he is and going by Blanket made him a much easier target for ridicule," says the insider.
Sources say Bigi chose his name shortly after entering his new school and it's stuck ever since.
Good for him. Although if he really wants to avoid being bullied, we'd recommend something more intimidating like the Notorious B.I.G.I.
