America has another would-be Commander-in-Chief joining the 2016 presidential race in former U.S. Senator and 2012 GOP candidate Rick Santorum.

"Today I announce my candidacy for President of the United States!" the Republican from Pennsylvania, who lost out to Mitt Romney in 2012, said.

"Join me and let’s take back America!"

The conservative politician says on his campaign website that he is "committed to restoring the American dream for hardworking Americans."

In 2012, long before the Josh Duggar molestation allegations became public knowledge, the Duggar family were among his biggest backers.

So, where do they currently stand?

The Duggars have yet to comment on Santorum’s announcement, or much of anything beyond the fact that Josh abused his own sisters.

Santorum has shared his staunch support for the Duggars, including a 2014 Facebook post urging supporters to stand with the TLC family.

Citing "ridiculous attacks from the left," following Duggar family scandals that were a whole lot less awful than the current one, he wrote:

"[My wife[ Karen and I have gotten to know the Duggar family, particularly Michelle and Jim Bob, personally over the last few years."

"They have raised their children in a faith-filled home, encouraging kindness and generosity, to work hard and to have a fun-loving spirit."

"They are a wonderful family, and Karen and I support them."

That was five months ago, and Santorum has yet to comment on the Duggars in light of the astonishing events of the past seven days.

Prior to their show getting pulled by TLC, the family had already thrown its support behind another presidential hopeful, Mike Huckabee.

"Governor Huckabee is a man of faith who is very wise, and will help get our country back on track," Michelle said of the 2008 contender.

"Gov. Huckabee has the communication skills of Ronald Reagan, and a common sense business approach to government," Jim Bob added.

"America needs Governor Huckabee for president!

Huckabee defended Josh Duggar in a lengthy statement following the molestation scandal, so we’re guessing they’re not switching sides.
