Not a whole lot happened on The Originals Season 2 Episode 17. Not a great deal of plot moved forward.
But the hour still proved to be an especially creepy one, giving two newcomers a chance to excel and cementing the status of both those newcomers as major players going forward.
Indeed, it's sad but true: Claire Holt really is a goner.
The actress left The Originals about midway through last season, but she made a couple appearances again on The Originals Season 2.
She's now signed on for NBC's drama Aquarius, however, and last night's new installment was centered on rescuing Rebekah from Eva Sinclair's sinister body.
This involved Klaus and his siblings actually trusting Freya, the only witch powerful enough to get inside of Eva.
She used Klaus and Elijah as anchors in order to do so and she succeeded in vanquishing Eva once and for all. So it was time for the Mikaelsons to get Rebekah's real body back, right?
She told Klaus that she promised to bring Kol back, something she could only accomplish as a witch; and she also said she could feel that her body was still connected to Davina and a few other witches.
If it dies, they die. So there you have it: Rebekah is a regular on the series again, only she'll be played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers.
It doesn't look like Riley Voelkel is going anywhere, either.
The talented young actress behind Freya, this character got inside of Klaus' head while performing her spell. She knows some of his secrets. She's prepared to do battle with her brother.
And she ended the installment, as you'll see when you watch The Originals online, by vowing to turn all of the Mikaelsons against Klaus. Then, she killed Esther.
It's safe to say we're very curious to see where this all goes on The Originals Season 2 Episode 18, which will officially bring Aunt Dahlia to New Orleans. GULP.
