It may not be Throwback Thursday or Flashback Friday. But St. Paul Star-Tribune reporter Libor Jany has officially made this Wondrous Wednesday.

Thanks to an AMAZING old photo of Prince!

While sorting through some archival clips of the iconic artist from his time at Bryant Junior High in Minnesota, Jany Tweeted a picture of the singer on his junior high school basketball team.

And no words can possibly do it justice.

So much for that Taylor Swift cornrow picture or The Rock fanny pack snapshot being the greatest celebrity throwback photo of all-time.

"Prince was an excellent player; he was like the sixth or seventh man," said his former basketball coach, Richard Robinson. "He was an excellent ball handler [and] a good shooter."

Only 5’2" at the time, however, Prince’s height may have gotten in the way of him becoming a basketball star instead of a musical legend.

"Probably with a different group of people he would have been a starter," Robinson added. "But, as they turned out, they were probably the best ball team that ever came along at Central [High School].

"I knew he wanted to be starting and felt he should be starting. He was unhappy and he expressed that many, many times."

It’s okay, Richard. Don’t worry. Prince ended up finding a pretty good fallback option.
