More drama took place Tuesday night on Lifetime’s Dance Moms Season 5 Episode 10, a gripping installment that posed the all-important question:

Who is the new Maddie Ziegler?

Can anyone match Magic Maddie’s teacher’s pet status? Seems like a stretch, but on Dance Moms Season 5 Episode 10, someone sure tried.

Brynn Rumfallo, who made a cameo on the ALDC elite junior team this season, which you know if you watch Dance Moms online, made a return.

Is she “The New Maddie?”

Abby awarded Maddie and Brynn solos, informing the pair that at the next competition in Wayne, N.J., they would be going head to head on stage.

Maddie’s performance in Sia’s “Chandelier” video that resulted in four Grammy nods aren’t enough for her to coast through unchallenged, in other words.

"You need to get out there and dance like your life depends on it, like your future," Abby told Maddie, who she told the cameras she had real concerns about.

"Maddie is not the same kid she was last year," Abby Lee lamented of her favorite pupil and her recent forays into music videos, TV and so forth.

Meanwhile, Abby told Ashlee, the mother of Brynn, that “I think your daughter has a special gift" and, wait for it people … "God made her to dance."

Not laying it on thick at all there, Abbs.

Ziegler was admittedly rattled by Abby’s remarks, as well as the fact that she had to go up against someone who she had to admit was the real deal.

So how did they fare in the end?

Despite an always-formidable challenge from Miller’s longtime nemesis Cathy Nesbitt-Stein and her Candy Apples team, the ALDC still prevailed.

Maddie went on to best Brynn in the pre-teen solo division, winning first place overall (Brynn managed to secure second place with a strong performance).

Young Ziegler therefore passed the test, proving she has to work for and earn respect, while Brynn was left hungry to do better next time around.

A good week for the ALDC.
