American Idol took fans back to the 1980s last night.

But not before it took away the hopes and dreams of two contestants.

Because the judges used their save last week on Qaasim Middleton, the axe came down on a pair of hopefuls Wednesday evening, with Maddie Walker and Adanna Duru seeing their impressive runs come to an end.

Rayvon Owen, meanwhile, found himself in the Bottom 3.

Did he redeem himself with the cover of a classic song? Check out all nine performances and give them each a grade now:

Daniel Seavey, at only 15, was way out of his element with “You Make My Dreams,” while Quentin Alexander got very deeply into his rendition of “In the Air Tonight."

Joey Cook most definitely had fun (but no chance to win) with “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” while Tyanna Jones tried to toss an EDM beat into “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.”

Jax put her very own spin on “You Give Love a Bad Name,” while Nick Fradiani rocked his crescendo on the overly-done “Man in the Mirror.”

Clark Beckham sat at the piano and belted out “Every Breath You Take” beautifully, while Middleton didn’t really make “Addiction to Love” his own.

Finally, Owen did a perfectly fine job on “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” But will that be enough to save him from elimination next week?

Now you tell us: Who should win American Idol Season 14?
