Is former reality star turned cocktail mogul Bethenny Frankel only returning to The Real Housewives of N.Y. City because she’s desperate for money?

Once worth around $100 million, Frankel’s return to the Real Housewives of New York City was forced, in part, by her financial problems, insiders say.

Bethenny’s $1 million salary from Bravo for coming back to the show that put her on the map may not have seemed like a lot before, but nowadays?

“She’s dumped so much money in legal bills into her divorce from Jason Hoppy,” an insider says of her former husband and the father of her daughter.

Making matters worse for her, “Bethenny’s trying to reinvent herself again,” says an insider, “and from all accounts, it doesn’t seem to be working.”

The revenue Frankel, 44, raked in from her ratings-challenged talk show Bethenny dried up, obviously, when it was canceled after just one season.

More problematic is the fact that her Skinnygirl products don’t seem to have the same buzz they once did, leaving her grasping at straws a bit.

As a result, “Bethenny’s just trying to stay afloat right now and gain new opportunities any way she can,” the insider says of her current status.

“She’s desperate to make the brand boom again, so she’s been trying to come up with some new and creative ways to promote Skinnygirl.”

Like going back on Bravo, where it all began, to help shill for a product the show made possible? Talk about coming full circle. It’s almost poetic.

Also, it’s gotta be better for PR than wearing Bryn’s clothes on Instagram. Just because the toddler clothes fit don’t mean you should wear them.
