It wasn’t difficult to guess that American Horror Story Season 4 Episode 8 would be an especially gruesome installment of this FX drama.
For what reason? It was titled "Blood Bath." Oh, and it was also written by creepily awesome creator Ryan Murphy.
We kicked off the hour with a flashback to Dandy’s younger days, with Gloria telling a psychiatrist that she always viewers her son as a “foreigner.” (Examples: as a child, he killed a cat. And also the gardener’s son.)
Meanwhile, everyone at the carnival is looking for Ma Petite. After they find her torn-up clothing, Ethel confronts Elsa and these two long-time friend go at it over the trust issues that have been building up.
Heck, Ethel even shoots Elsa in the leg at one point, prompting a completion to the story of how she got them. (Simply put, Danny Huston did it, as an Italian sculptor/prosthetics expert named Massimo.)
The fight ended in shocking fashion; with Elsa killing Ethel via a knife in the eye!
With some help from Stanley, Elsa went about covering up her crime: she set up a car crash and the freaks found Ethel with her head off. They figured she tied a chain around her neck and committed suicide.
She had been sick after all, hadn’t she?
Jimmy is deep in mourning as a result, while Desiree is empowered to rise up against evil men.
When you watch American Horror Story online, you’ll then head back to the Motts: Gabourey Sidibe has shown up at the dead main’s daughter. She isn’t believe any story Gloria is telling her about her mom, either.
Elsa, for her part, heads to Miami to recruit a new act: her name is Barbara. She lives in a townhouse. She goes to Debutante Balls. And she’s very large. Her mother refers to her a a “fat pig,” but Elsa tells her something different:
"There is a place where every pound of that glorious jiggle will be cheered, celebrated."
Back at camp, Desiree is still angry. She has Penny’s father brought to the camp and they tie him up. They tar and feathery him. They are about to kill him when Maggie runs in and talks them out of it.
Back to the Motts: Dandy threatens Gloria, saying she has to kill Regina or join him on the electric chair. He threatens suicide and then he turns the gun on his mother – and he shoots her in the forehead!
So we conclude the episode with the episode’s title: Dandy in a bathtub, bathing in his mother’s blood.
