It was all relative on Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 6, as April’s mother stopped by for a visit and Derek suggested that Meredith invite her half-sister over for dinner.

Derek had this bright idea because Meredith still had Maggie referring to her as “Dr. Grey.” He reminded his wife that she wanted to stay in Seattle largely due to family, which didn’t exactly sit very well with Meredith.

Really, Derek, you may wanna avoid mentioning the whole D.C. thing going forward.

Despite protests all around, the dinner went on as scheduled. And when Maggie and Richard arrived, they were alone for a few minutes, giving Richard the chance to apologize for not ever having been a father.

She replied that she was simply angry he didn’t tell her the truth at the outset and, by the time Derek came downstairs, Maggie had departed.

ELSEWHERE, April was too busy at work to hang out with her mother, but Jackson’s light schedule gave him the chance to do so.

They got along well… but April then got upset when she learned they had been chatting about her behind her back. She summarily threw a fit and rejected all of her mom’s efforts to help.

Jackson, however, explained that April may not need her mom’s advice on how to parent, but he could benefit from some words of wisdom.

April then apologized to her mother, who promptly explained how proud she was of her daughter for thriving in her life and that it was her right as a grandmother to pitch in now and again.

ALSO ELSEWHERE, Callie discovered that Arizona was living at the hospital (just like Callie used to!), though she didn’t have much time to sleep.

Herman was running her ragged and giving her a hard time, which led to Arizona eventually confronting her. Herman replied that she’ll be “dead in six months” from an inoperable brain tumor.

Should Arizona tell the board? Or keep her secret and try to absorb a year’s worth of groundbreaking medical knowledge in order to take over down the line?

Also of note:

  • Bailey found a tumor in a patient with bad eating habits and re-evaluated her own lifestyle, leading to a hilarious attempt at jogging.
  • Owen took special interest in a homeless veteran who didn’t think she deserved it because she only fixed computers in an Iraqi green zone. But good ol’ Dr. Hunt convinced her otherwise.
  • Jo felt as if she, herself, didn’t have a home. But Alex assured her that his place was her place. AWWW.
