Nicky Hilton and James Rothschild are engaged, according to Us Weekly, as the banker asked for the hand of the Hotels heiress and fashion designer in marriage last weekend.
The proposal took place in Lake Como, Italy.
“They are both really excited and incredibly happy,” an insider tells Us of Hilton and Rothschild.
Rothschild is the heir to the famous European banking family and he started dating Paris Hilton’s sister in 2011 after they met at Petra Ecclestone and James Stunt’s wedding.
The event took place in Italy, hence the location of Rothschild’s proposal.
“They went on a romantic anniversary trip over the weekend,” the source says. “He took her out on a boat into the middle of Lake Como and he proposed, got down on one knee and everything. It was incredibly romantic and beautiful.”
And, yes, he asked for permission from Nicky’s parents before popping the question.
