Prior to season six of The Real Housewives of New York City, LuAnn de Lesseps role was reduced from primary cast member to “friend,” meaning that she appeared in fewer episodes for dramatically reduced pay.
Now it seems the move was more of a blow to LuAnn’s ego than to her pocketbook, as the the Countess is reportedly willing to do anything to star in season seven as a full-fledged Housewife – including work for free.
LuAnn is rumored to be ramping up the drama in her life, as insiders close to the show claim she was cut from the main cast because she “just wasn’t bringing it.”
LuAnn and Aviva Dresher feuded at a recent charity event in what some believe to be a part of the Countess’ campaign to get back on RHONY full time.
While LuAnn is willing to work for free and Sonja Morgan makes over $400,000 a season from RHONY, LuAnn has reportedly singled out Sonja as her rival and “threw her under the bus” during her negotiations with Bravo, attempting to convince the network that she’s a more valuable asset to the show.
Producers, of course, weren’t buying it:
“There is no show with Ramona [Singer] and Sonja,” says a source. “Sonja is the funny sex pot and Ramona is the one who throws glasses.”
