Channing Tatum will not appear in the upcoming X Men: Days of Future Past, but you can expect to see the Magic Mike heartthrob heavily featured in sequels to the highly-anticipated film.
Marvel Studios announced today that Tatum will play card-slinging mutant Gambit in future X-Men films.
There has been speculation that Tatum will also star in several solo vehicles, a la Hugh Jackman's Wolverine movies, but that has yet to be confirmed by the studio.
Tatum has rumored to be the likely choice for the fan-favorite character for several months and he spoke of his desire to land the role in a recent interview with MTV:
"I would love it," Channing said of the role. "Gambit is really the only X-Man I've ever loved. I mean I've loved them all...they're all great, but I guess from being down south...I just related to him."
Of course, this isn't the only popular franchise Tatum is involved with these days.
In addition to his part in the GI Joe blockbusters, Channing is set to reprise his title role in the highly-anticipated Magic Mike sequel set for release in July of 2015.
