Very sad news out of North Carolina last week.
A 32-year old woman named Courtney Ann Sanford got into a fatal car accident Thursday in High Point, mere moments after she updated her Facebook status with a positive message.
Authorities tell My Fox 8 that Sanford used her cell phone to update her account with a post about Pharrell’s “Happy,” only to swerve across a median and slam head-first into a truck.
“The Facebook text happened at 8:33 a.m. We got the call on the wreck at 8:34 a.m.,” said Lt. Chris Weisner. "In a matter of seconds, a life was over just so she could notify some friends that she was happy."
Investigators say Sanford’s Facebook post read: “The happy song makes me HAPPY.”
Sanford was also posting selfies online during her last minutes behind the wheel, police have confirmed, making this a “grim reminder” of how one needs to focus while driving, Weisner said.
"You just have to pay attention while you are in the car."
The 73-year old driver of the truck into which Sanford crashed was uninjured.
